Eating Clean Doesn't Have To Break The Bank

“Eating clean just costs so much money!”

Well, it doesn’t have to. Being mindful and taking advantage of a few easy tips can have you eating clean and potentially saving some money. It’s true!

Here are a few suggestions for you.

1) Avoid pre-packaged convenience foods. Items like fruit that come pre-cut and portioned may provide convenience but they come with a higher price point. A large bag of frozen shrimp provides several meals and could cost much less than purchasing smaller amounts at the seafood counter.

2) Plan ahead. Planning your meals ahead will keep you from tossing things you don’t need into your cart. Stick to your plan and watch your savings grow!

3) Check unit prices. Often we look at the total item price and overlook the unit price. If you pay attention here it’s easy to get your cost per meal down and save in the long run! If you have a foodsaver you can save a ton by purchasing larger packs of things like chicken and freezing them.

4) Check out the freezer section. Frozen veggies provide a ton of nutrients and current technologies allow them to be flash frozen to capture their great textures. Prices can be far less than fresh veggies and storing them in the freezer allows for less waste.

5) Compare brands. I get it - we like what we like! But…if you’re open to trying a new brand and you end up liking it you could save a considerable amount on frequently purchased items.
